Ravenna

Ravenna's magnificent mosaics date from the fifth and sixth centuries.

The 1400 year old Basilica de San Vitale is filled
with mosaics of amazingly intricate design. 

We went to Ravenna for one reason only - to see the mosaics. If you're not into mosaics, you may want to skip this post...umm...well, maybe not.  Maybe you'll be as impressed as we were!
